Andrew M. Smith

Andrew has taught saxophone, clarinet and flute at Sound Beach Music since 2012. In 2013, he obtained a B.A. in Music Education from LIU Post, where he studied woodwind technique with Tim Ruedeman, Dave Sapadin, and pedagogy with Dr. Jennifer Miceli and Dr. James McRoy. In 2016, he obtained a M.A. in Composition from the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College, where he studied theory and composition with Dr. Jeff Nichols and Dr. Bruce Saylor, as well as saxophone with Dr. Paul Cohen. 

Andrew has performed at such prestigious venues as Carnegie Hall, Tilles Center, and LeFrak Concert hall, as well as abroad in Costa Rica. He has had numerous performances of original compositions throughout the NY Metropolitan area, including ensembles as small as a single bassoonist to as large as a full wind symphony.
